Himalayan Fund N.V. (“the Company”) is an investment company with variable capital incorporated under Dutch Law, with its registered office in Amstelveen.

The primary objective of the Company is to generate long-term capital gains for shareholders from investing in India. The Company may from time to time invest in other contiguous markets but this discretion is not currently exercised. However, the Directors of the Fund, at their regular board meeting on June 8th 2011 ,decided that given the improved security situation in Sri Lanka, they  may consider investment opportunities in that country, should they arise, subject subject to the Fund's normal investment restrictions.

Access to Indian markets by foreigners is restricted but the Company is one of the oldest vehicles by which such access can be gained.

Thanks to its registration with the Securities and Exchange Board of India as a “Foreign Institutional Investor” the Company is able to offer shareholders the benefits of the tax treaty between the Netherlands and India as well as being able to hold all of its own investments directly.

The Company provides liquidity for its shareholders by buying and selling its Ordinary Shares through Euronext Amsterdam’s TCS system once a week at a Transaction Price based on Net Asset Value. The Company’s shares are also traded on the London Stock Exchange
